PCP-101

I’m a PCP…so now what?

As a Precinct Committee Person (PCP):

You are critical to the election of Republican candidates at the local level, statewide, and nationally, as are all Republicans.
You play a very important role within the official structure of the Party, as a member of the Clackamas County Central Committee, the internal foundation of the Clackamas County Republican Party (CCRP), where the business of the Party is carried out.

You may decide, based on your time availability and interest, where you want to be involved, and to what degree. Your work will be appreciated to whatever extent you are able to participate. These are just a few of the many opportunities available to you:

Throughout the year, a PCP can be involved in the official business of the Party -- merely with their vote, or assuming a leadership role.

The County Central Committee meets four times a year. Your attendance at these meetings is very important because the PCP’s hold the voting authority to select officers and make decisions on other business of the Party.
A PCP can work on one of the various Committees within the CCRP.
A PCP can take a leadership role as a CCRP officer, Committee Chair, or House District Captain.
A CCRP-PCP can to be involved on the state level where the Oregon Republican Party’s Platform is determined, ORGOP leadership is selected, and ORGOP business is conducted.

A PCP can support Republican candidates and campaigns in a variety of ways.

A PCP may volunteer to walk their precinct to drop off campaign material. A “walking list” of all registered voters in the precinct is provided upon request.
A PCP may pick up campaign yard signs and distribute them to their neighbors.
A PCP may make calls at Phone Banks.
A PCP can encourage Republican voter registration.
In between the primary and general elections, when ballot measures need Initiative signatures or campaign help, the PCP is provided opportunities to get involved.

As a CCRP-PCP, you will soon become the “go to” person in your neighborhood. Neighbors will seek you out for your advice on candidates and issues. You are the face, the voice, and the strength behind the Republican Party.
